About

We are the 5th generation of our clan of Butler's born in South Africa, the 7th generation directly descended from Captain Thomas Butler of the Dublin Militia, who, on the 12th February 1820, leading his party of 27 from County Wicklow in Ireland, set sail, on the ship named "Fanny", from the Port of Cork in Ireland, to form part of the British Government-assisted emigration scheme to the Cape Colony, South Africa, historically known as the "1820 Settlers".

Note:

Although the Family Tree is linked here, it is still very much in its infancy as I discovered that family research takes much longer than just a bit of overnight homework.
